FAQ – Dead Link Checker

Why can't I check Amazon, Google, or other major sites?

On the free plan and during the trial, links to these major sites are skipped to protect their servers from excess load. On the paid plan (active subscription), they are checked as link targets.

On the free plan and during the trial, the sites excluded from checking include:

  • Amazon (amazon.co.jp / amazon.com)
  • Google (google.co.jp / google.com)
  • YouTube (youtube.com)
  • Facebook (facebook.com)
  • Twitter / X (twitter.com / x.com)
  • Instagram (instagram.com)
  • Yahoo Japan (yahoo.co.jp)
  • Rakuten (rakuten.co.jp)
  • Ameba Blog (ameblo.jp)
  • livedoor (livedoor.jp)

On the free plan and during the trial, links to these domains are skipped during crawling. On the paid plan (active subscription), their link status is checked. However, these domains cannot be specified as the crawl start page on any plan.

The crawl stopped in the middle

In the free plan, crawling runs in your browser, so you need to keep the browser tab open. If you close the page, the crawl stops.

In the paid Standard plan, crawling continues on the server even after you close your browser. Log back in and click the "Status" button in Job History to see the latest results from where it left off.

What is Basic Authentication?

Basic Authentication is a password protection method where your browser shows a dialog asking for a username and password when you visit the page.

With the paid plan, you can enter Basic Auth credentials in the "Crawl Settings" to check password-protected pages.

How many pages can be checked?

The paid plan has no per-run page limit. However, it has a usage cap of 500,000 pages in total per month (1st to the last day of each month, Japan time). The free plan applies a per-run page limit depending on server load (the current limit is shown on the top page).

If you need to continuously monitor large sites exceeding 500,000 pages per month, please consider multiple subscriptions. Note that crawling may stop before reaching 500,000 pages if the data volume is extremely large.

Both plans also have a time limit per run:

  • Free plan: up to 5 hours per run
  • Paid plan: up to 24 hours per run

Can it check links generated by JavaScript?

No. This tool collects links via HTTP requests and does not execute JavaScript.

For sites rendered with React, Vue.js, Next.js, or similar frameworks, some links may not be detected correctly.

How does the tool handle robots.txt?

The tool does not read or follow robots.txt. It sends requests to all discovered links.

If you want to skip specific URLs, use the "Exclude URL Patterns" feature available in the paid plan.

How many pages can be checked on a large site?

The paid plan has no per-run page limit and can check up to 500,000 pages in total per month (counted per calendar month, Japan time). If you need to continuously monitor sites larger than that, please consider multiple subscriptions. The free plan has a per-run page limit (the current value is shown on the top page). The time limit per run is 5 hours for the free plan and 24 hours for the paid plan.

Sites with thousands or tens of thousands of pages are supported, but we recommend setting an appropriate sleep interval to avoid putting excessive load on the target server.

Are scheduled check times exact?

Not exactly. Scheduled checks are evaluated every minute, and a check is triggered when the configured interval (daily, weekly, or monthly) has elapsed (with up to about a 1-minute margin).

The first run starts immediately after registration, but you can freely change the start time afterward via the "Next run" field in the schedule "Edit" dialog. Subsequent runs repeat from that time at the chosen interval, so you can run on a fixed schedule such as "daily at 12:00".

If the previous check is still running, the next one will wait until the following cycle.

Why are some sites excluded from checking?

Large services such as Amazon, Google, and YouTube do not accept bulk requests and may block IP addresses or return unreliable results. For this reason, the free plan and trial skip links to these services.

The paid plan (active subscription) checks them automatically as link targets. On the free plan and during the trial, we recommend manually verifying links to these services in your browser.

I want to cancel my subscription / delete my account

After logging in, click the "Delete Account" link in the top-right corner to submit a deletion request. We will contact you shortly.
